Ballater is blooming beautiful in springtime and that is no April Fool’s! There is so much to enjoy and celebrate – whether it’s a girly weekend for Mother’s Day, a family gathering over Easter or making the most of May bank holidays with a spring break, we’ve got you covered!

The snow has melted off the Cairngorm mountains, the ice has disappeared from nearby lochs, and the outdoors are ready to be explored in Aberdeenshire!

Ballater is bustling again with lots of activity coming up over the next few months!

From Tuesday 1st April, Balmoral Castle will welcome visitors to the grounds, gardens and exhibitions, 7 days a week, from 1000 to 1700. Strolling through the gardens, taking in the blossoming flowers and hills of heather, is a delight on a lovely spring day. Even better if there’s tea & cake involved!

If you want to take it up a notch from a leisurely stroll, the Ballater Walking Festival 2025 will take place from 17th-23rd May. A brilliant week to make the most of our spectacular surroundings and friendly locals!
